The case for fewer bags

The case for fewer bags

We are a small house, and we make small numbers of bags. That is partly a constraint — there are only so many hours in a day at the atelier — and partly a position. We do not believe most people need more than three bags.

A tote for the everyday. A crossbody for the weekend. A clutch for the evenings that matter. Done well, those three pieces will see you through almost every situation a life can hand you. They will also age into something that no new bag can be: yours.

Our most loyal customers tend to buy from us once every few years. They write to us about a strap that has softened, a corner that has lightened, a small repair we have done in the atelier and returned to them in tissue paper. That, more than any growth chart, is the metric we care about.
