A small atelier with a quiet ambition
Bagcity was founded in 2026 in a quiet corner of the Marais. A decade later, we still make every bag the same way — by hand, in small numbers, with the same Italian leathers we began with.
The beginning
Born in the Marais, 2026
Lior Ashkenazi spent fifteen years in the leather ateliers of Florence before returning to Paris with a single conviction: that the handbag industry had forgotten how to be patient. She opened our first studio on Rue des Archives with two craftspeople, a worn-out press, and a tannery relationship that would shape everything we make.
Our first collection — six styles, made in an edition of forty — sold out in a week. We have kept the same approach ever since: small runs, unhurried craft, nothing made that we would not carry ourselves.
Our craft
Made by hand, in Florence
Each Bagcity bag is shaped by a single craftsperson from cut to final stitch. We work only with vegetable-tanned leathers from a family-run tannery outside Florence — leathers that begin honey-soft and only grow more beautiful with wear.
Our hardware is solid brass, plated in real gold and finished by hand. The result is a bag that feels weighty in the palm — a quiet, lasting kind of luxury.

Still small, by design
We employ twelve people across our Paris studio and Florence atelier. We produce fewer than three thousand bags a year. We have declined every offer to scale, license our name, or open a second location.
Smallness is not a constraint — it is the point. It is what lets us know every bag by name, answer every question ourselves, and stand behind every stitch without reservation.
